Reinvention · Leadership · The Human Side of Change

I spent two decades
making change land.
Then it nearly cost me everything.

I ran global programmes of strategic change for one of the largest, most complex banks in the world, until a health event forced me to confront the part almost every leader gets wrong: the human one. This is where I write, speak and build about doing serious work without losing yourself in it.

Portrait of Jonathan Frostick
What I Stand For

The thing no one tells you about high performance.

In 2021 I wrote about a health event at my desk. My first thought wasn’t my family. It was a meeting with my manager. That post reached more than seven million people, and it changed the questions I ask for a living.

For most of my career I was the person the whole thing leaned on when the stakes were high. For a long time that felt like value. It took a genuine wake-up call to see what it was quietly costing, and to notice how many senior people are running on exactly the same fumes without naming it.

I still believe in doing serious, difficult work well. Complex change, real accountability, high standards. What I no longer believe is that you have to hollow yourself out to deliver it. The delivery and the human being are not in competition. Treating them as if they are is the mistake almost every organisation makes, and it’s the most expensive one.

So that’s what I do now, from every angle I can. I advise leaders and boards on making change land without breaking their people. I speak, honestly, about what burnout actually costs. And through the Life 2.0 podcast and a small library of tools, I help people navigate the point where the questions change, from “how do I get the next promotion” to “what am I actually building, and did I choose it?”

Change that lands

Two decades turning stalled, high-stakes programmes into governed, working outcomes, without pretending the human cost isn’t real.

Honest in the room

The talk I’m asked for most isn’t a resilience framework. It’s the heart attack, what it forced me to confront, and what changed after.

A second act, out loud

Writing and building from inside my own reinvention, not from a finished, polished distance. The messy middle, on the record.

What I Do & Why I’m Worth Listening To

The credibility behind the conviction.

None of the above lands unless I can actually do the work, so here’s the ground it stands on. For over two decades I’ve worked inside some of the world’s largest and most complex organisations, turning ambitious digital programmes into real, governed, working outcomes.

My day job sits at the intersection of technology strategy, programme governance, and executive leadership. I partner with boards and C-suite teams who know what they want to achieve but need trusted, senior counsel on how to get there, without the politics, the overruns, or the surprises.

I also speak at conferences and leadership events about the human and structural realities of technology transformation, the things most keynotes won’t tell you.

I’ve delivered programmes across financial services, government, UK defence (SC cleared), and oil & gas. Sectors where the stakes are high, the regulation is real, and the politics matter as much as the engineering.

It’s a pleasure working with Jonathan. He’s very collaborative in the way he approaches problems, seeking the best solutions and ideas wherever they come from. He’s pragmatic in his approach, and has good judgement. I’ve been really impressed with his drive and energy, in pushing forward with good humour to drive to successful outcomes. It’s rare to find these valuable skills and behaviours.

I had the pleasure to work with Jonathan as initially my Risk and Issue manager, and later as the head of my Program’s PMO office in the very large connect Program in Statoil Fuel & Retail. Jonathan was very attentive to detail and never gave up if anything needed to be chased down. He was very professional and supportive… I can highly recommend Jonathan.
